Josef Dirr from Filderstadt is the new German Floristry Champion

For two days, nine floral artists from all over Germany competed for the title in Berlin - today (17.8.24) Josef Dirr was ceremoniously crowned the new German Floristry Champion. ‘I am delighted to receive this special award,’ said the winner of what is probably the most colourful and fragrant competition in the country. ‘It was such an exciting time with great people. We all share a love of flowers and a great passion for creative work.’

At the BIKINI Berlin and in the Berlin Memorial Church, the florists demonstrated their skills in front of an enthusiastic audience with five tasks centred around the theme of ‘Peace’. The award ceremony took place on the evening of 17 August at the Delphi Film Theatre. Lena Hartmann from Bargteheide and Jennifer Mühlbauer from Pirna came second and third in the German Floristry Championships. Special prizes were awarded by the expert jury in the categories ‘Best free creative work’, ‘Best bar/table decoration’ and ‘Best bound workpiece’. Josef Dirr came out on top in the free creative work category, while Lena Hartmann won in two categories - ‘Best Bar/Table Decoration’ and ‘Best Tied Workpiece’. The bouquets in the latter category - the ‘Supreme discipline’ - will be exhibited in the Memorial Church and can be admired there for another week.

About Fleurop:

Fleurop AG has its headquarters in Berlin. The company's over 100-year history is impressive. In 1908, the Berlin florist Max Hübner had an ingenious idea: instead of sending the flowers on their journey, the order should be placed with local florists - the Fleurop principle was born. Today, around 50,000 partner florists in 150 countries around the world deliver over 25 million flower arrangements every year. Each flower greeting is exclusively handmade by professional florists and delivered personally to the recipient.
