The Christmas season is also the time when it's nice to have a little more in the way of Christmas decorations: the decorations in the living room can be lavish and it's good to surround yourself with more beautiful things. The table decorations at Christmas dinner can also be a real eye-catcher. But beautiful Christmas table decorations don't always have to involve classic fir greenery or eucalyptus. Flowers, for example, can also be used to conjure up an atmospheric table decoration at Christmas time.

The amaryllis is a true winter beauty and conjures up colour on the Christmas table as an opulent arrangement. It is also a real eye-catcher on its own in a vase or as a decoration on a plate. There's hardly any other decoration needed - a few candles and simple baubles round off the overall concept. If you like, you can attach a few tree candle clips and decorative stars to pine branches.

Tip: If you find real candlelight too dangerous, simply use LED candles or leave them out altogether.

Required materials:

  • a glass vase with a large opening (alternatively, a lantern is also suitable)
  • various amaryllis
  • 1-2 pine branches
  • 1-2 eucalyptus twigs
  • Branches of the so-called barbed wire branches (moss is also an alternative)
  • Adhesive strips
  • Scissors
  • sharp knife to cut the amaryllis

Christmas table decorations with amaryllis - we show you how it's done:

Klebestreifen als Raster auf die Vasenöffnung geklebt

Step 1: Attach adhesive strips to the vase

Use the adhesive strip to stick a grid over the opening of the vase to create a holder for the amaryllis. The gaps in the grid should be approximately the diameter of the amaryllis stems. Allow the ends of the adhesive strips to go just over the edge of the vase. Cut off the excess adhesive strips with scissors.

Step 2: Shorten the amaryllis to different lengths

Trim the amaryllis with a sharp knife. The arrangement will look particularly beautiful if you cut the amaryllis to different lengths - 1 to 2 flowers that only just reach over the edge of the vase, 1 to 2 flowers that just overhang the lower amaryllis and another 1 to 2 flowers that form the top. This gives the entire Christmas arrangement a beautiful dynamic and makes it look more opulent.

Step 3: Decorate the vase with amaryllis

Place the individual amaryllises in the spaces between the grid. Place the shortest ones at the front, then the amaryllis with the medium length and the amaryllis with the longest stem at the back.

Step 4: Fill the vase with greenery

Fill the spaces in between with eucalyptus and pine branches. If you like, you can hang some Christmas decorations on the pine branches. However, these should not be too heavy.

Finally, pour a little water into the vase. Just enough to cover the bottom of the vase. As the icing on the cake, the base of the vase can be covered with barbed wire or moss. To do this, carefully push the filling material through the openings on the edge of the adhesive strip grid. Tip: a wooden stick can be used as an aid here.

We hope you enjoy making your own Christmas table decorations!
