  • Wooden sticks in various lengths
  • Sand for weighting
  • cord
  • scissors
  • Olive branches*
  • Cottonseed pods*
  • wire
  • Florist scissors
  • Additional decorative elements if required

*You can obtain these materials from your local florist.

5 steps to a Christmas tree alternative:

Step 1: Set up the vertical wooden stick

Place the longest wooden stick (we used a wooden stick approx. 1 metre long) in the vase and then secure it with sand. Make sure that the wooden stick is straight on all sides.

Step 2: Fasten the wooden sticks one by one

Sort the wooden sticks by length before attaching them. Then gradually attach the individual wooden sticks from bottom to top or from top to bottom in order of size.

To do this, tie a knot on the vertical stick, then position the horizontal stick across it, pass the cord over the stick, cross the ends of the cord behind the vertical stick, pass the ends under the horizontal stick and cross them again. Now bring the cord up between the two rods, cross the two ends over each other and bring them back down between the two rods. Finish the attachment with a knot in front of the vertical rod at the bottom.

Step 3: Position the wooden sticks

To give the decoration a more spatial effect, you can then reposition the wooden sticks and move them slightly into each other.

Step 4: Decorate the frame with olive branches

Now decorate the framework with individual beautiful olive branches between the wooden sticks.

Step 5: Attach the cotton seed pods

Now wire individual cotton bolls and then attach them to the frame.

That's it!

If you like, you can now attach other decorative elements such as a star to the top.
