Hot Chocolate Bombs - for the perfect moment of indulgence
Advent is the time for warm drinks, cosy hours and creative gifts from the kitchen. Today we present you with an original idea: Chocolate bombs with marshmallows that are guaranteed to amaze. And the best thing? The Hot Chocolate Bomb recipe is not only quick to make, but also a real eye-catcher!
What makes these hot chocolate bombs so special?
Instead of the classic chocolate on a stick, this time there's a new twist: the cups are made of chocolate and contain a delicious mixture of high-quality cocoa, sugar and mini marshmallows. Instead of the typical wooden spoon, a straw (made of glass or stainless steel) is integrated - perfect for enjoying the hot chocolate straight from the melted chocolate cup.
Materials required:
- 8 mini paper cups (approx. 60 ml)
- 8 stainless steel straws (they are reusable)
- 200 g high-quality dark chocolate
- 3 tbsp baking cocoa
- 4-5 tbsp sugar (depending on sweetening preference)
- 1 tsp gingerbread spice (optional)
- Mini marshmallows
- Sugar sprinkles and decorations
- 1 piping bag
Make your own Hot Chocolate Bomb - we show you how:
Step 1: Prepare the cups
Cut the top of the paper cups once so that it is easier to remove the chocolate cup later. Then seal the cut so that the chocolate cannot run out.
Step 2: Making chocolate cups
Chop the chocolate and melt ⅔ over a hot, non-boiling water bath. Remove the chocolate from the bain-marie and stir in the remaining chocolate. Pour about 3 tbsp of the chocolate into a piping bag and keep it warm. Pour some chocolate into a paper cup and swirl it back and forth so that the chocolate can spread and the cup is completely filled.
Step 3: Attach the straw
As soon as the chocolate hardens, you can press the straw into the base and leave to dry completely.
Step 4: Filling the chocolate cups
Mix the cocoa, sugar and spices and carefully remove the chocolate cups from the moulds. Then pour the cocoa mixture into the cups and cover them with mini marshmallows. To give everything a little grip, you can now spread some more chocolate on top with a piping bag and decorate with sugar sprinkles. If you like, you can wrap the cups nicely and decorate them with a bow, for example.
That's it!
Finally, tie a pretty bow around the straw of your Hot Chocolate Bombs. This makes the chocolate bombs with marshmallows a wonderful gift. You can also use any other chocolate for the chocolate bombs. With white chocolate, make sure that you reduce or completely omit the sugar in the cocoa mix so that your Hot Chocolate Bomb Cups are not too sweet.
Tip: Hot chocolate bombs and a magical bouquet of flowers - the perfect combination to make the Christmas season even cosier and more beautiful!
To enjoy, pour about 200 ml of very hot milk into a large cup and dissolve the Hot Chocolate Bombs in it while stirring.
