Flower bag upcycling – gift box project
Fleurop bouquets are delivered in elegant black gift packaging: our Flower-Bag. The Flower-Bag is waterproof and sturdy - and therefore far too good to throw away! We have therefore come up with a creative upcycling idea to perfectly showcase not only flowers but also other gifts with the flower bag.
Materials required:
- Fleurop flower bag
- Spray paint in white
- Viennese braid made from paper
- Scissors
- Acrylic paint in rosé-beige
- Paintbrush
- Hot glue
- Cotton cord in light brown/natural colour if required
Instructions for the upcycling idea for the gift box
Step 1: Remove the strings
Firstly, take out the cardboard vase and remove the strings from the outer box.
Step 2: Colour the flower bag
Then colour the outer box with the spray paint. Spraying should be done in a well-ventilated area. It is also important that the surrounding area is sufficiently covered (e.g. with old cardboard). In order to achieve an opaque result, the colour is sprayed on in individual thin layers. The paint must always be allowed to dry thoroughly between coats.
Step 3: Prepare the Viennese braid
In the meantime, the Viennese braid can be prepared. To do this, first cut out 4 pieces that are large enough to cover the sides of the paper bag, leaving the top edge with the holes for the handles free.
Step 4: Colour the braid
In the next step, the braid can be coloured as desired. In the example, we have used acrylic paint in rosé beige.
Step 5: Attach the braid to the flower bag
Once the outer cardboard and Viennese braid are dry, it's time to glue them together: Use a few drops of hot glue to attach the braid to the sides of the cardboard.
Step 6: Add the handle
Finally, the handles are added. You can either use the original black cords or alternatively cotton cords in a matching colour.
Done!
Extra tip: To give the gift box more stability, place the cardboard vase back in the newly designed outer box and then fill it.
